Yellow fever vaccination is required for Afghanistan only if you have been to a yellow fever country in the seven days before entering Afghanistan. If you are staying longer than four weeks in Afghanistan, the last polio vaccination ( DTP vaccination) must have been given less than 12 months before you leave the country. This vaccination is an international requirement so you must bring your vaccination booklet with you when you travel. You may be asked for it when leaving Afghanistan.
Regardless of length of stay, the following vaccinations are recommended for Afghanistan: vaccination against DTP (Diphtheria, Tetanus and Polio) and vaccination against hepatitis A (contagious jaundice). If you have not had measles or a measles vaccination, a BMR vaccination is recommended for Afghanistan. For stays longer than two weeks, a vaccination against typhoid fever is recommended for Afghanistan. For stays longer than three months, vaccinations against hepatitis B, rabies and in some cases tuberculosis are recommended for Afghanistan. Sometimes vaccinations against these diseases are recommended for Afghanistan for shorter stays. Please consult with us about this.
