Medical Assessment

Are you planning to work or study abroad? Then you may be required to bring a medical certificate. You can obtain this certificate by undergoing a medical examination, also known as expat inspection. This is necessary because many countries make certain demands on your health. Which requirements these are, differs per country. In addition, you may need another medical examination performed on your return into the Netherlands to rule out that you have contracted diseases abroad.

The medical examination consists of various components, depending on the requirements of the country you are traveling to. Your employer or educational institution may inform you about this. If they do not know exactly which requirements you must meet, you can ask for advice at the embassy of the destination country. In any case, a basic inspection is carried out, possibly supplemented with additional tests and vaccinations.
Whatever country you are going to visit, vaccinatiecentrum.nl is certified to perform various examinations that are required to obtain a medical certificate.
You can choose from three different packages. Do you not know exactly which package you need in your situation? Feel free to contact us, we are happy to help and advise you in making your choice.

Below you can see the different medical assessments we can provide for you:

Fit to travel / work inspection

Cost: €137,50

The fit to travel / work examination consists of a physical examination and the completion of an extensive questionnaire. You will be asked whether you have (had) certain diseases, are taking medication or have undergone treatments. You will also be asked if you want to undertake certain activities (such as diving or mountain climbing) and whether you are pregnant. Are there things that are not covered in the questionnaire but that you want to discuss? There is also room for this during the inspection.

After completing the questionnaire, it is time to review your current vaccination status and whether you have had the correct vaccinations for the destination you are traveling to. If necessary, you can get the missing vaccinations at vaccinatiecentrum.nl in which case there are additional costs due to the cost of the vaccinations. Finally, a physical examination is performed.

During this examination, various measurements and checks are carried out, including:

  • BMI
  • Measuring your blood pressure
  • Check for visible physical abnormalities
  • Urinalysis

The measured data is noted, as well as any visible abnormalities such as skin discoloration or fluid retention.

Expat entry / exit inspection

Cost: Varies depending on which of the following examinations need to be conducted

The entry / exit inspection for expats or people who have been or will be seconded is a lot more extensive than the fit to travel / work inspection. This inspection also includes blood testing and possibly stool examination.

The following tests, among other things, can be carried out at vaccinatiecentrum.nl:

  • Blood tests, stool examination, urinalysis
  • Physical examination (listening to heart and lungs)
  • Chest X-ray
  • ECG (electrocardiogram)

It is also possible to do a combination of both the entry and exit inspection.

Custom inspection

Cost: Varies depending on which examinations need to be conducted

In some cases, a company or other authority will provide you with a form stating specifically which exams need to be carried out. Vaccinatiecentrum.nl can also be of service here. In such cases, we use the Fit to travel/Fit to work inspection as a basis and can add the required examinations. The price of a customised inspection is therefore not fixed and depends on the extra examinations that need to be conducted.

Have you received a form from your employer or other authority which must be used for the inspection. Please send it to us so we can check if we can carry out the inspection.
