Vaccination Advice
Vaccinations protect you against infectious diseases that are prevalent in Malawi. Make an appointment for personalised travel advice at vaccinatiecentrum.nl.
The following vaccinations are recommended when travelling to Malawi:
DTP (Diphtheria, Tetanus and Polio), Hepatitis A (infectious jaundice), Yellow fever, Measles, Hepatitis B, Tuberculosis and Rabies.
Some of these vaccinations are always advised, regardless of the length of your stay in Malawi. These are DTP and Hepatitis A. The other vaccination recommendations depend on your health situation, living conditions, length of stay, the areas you visit and the activities you undertake in Malawi.
Yellow fever
Yellow fever does not occur in Malawi but a vaccination is mandatory if you are travelling in from a high-risk country or have been in transit in such a country for more than 12 hours.
Polio
For travellers staying in Malawi for more than four weeks, the last polio vaccination must have been given less than 12 months ago at the time you leave Malawi.
Malaria
Malaria is prevalent in Malawi. If you are staying in an area where malaria is prevalent, we sometimes recommend the use of malaria medication. Furthermore, it is important to take protective measures against malaria.
